Choosing Faith Over Your Feelings

This week has been tough so far. I have plenty of assignments to work on and tasks to accomplish, and this is normally all I need to get and stay motivated. Something about this week is different, though. I literally don’t want to do anything. Nothing. Especially not write this blog post. I told myself several times that I was not going to write this.

I feel like I just need a day to do nothing, and when I say nothing, I don’t really mean nothing. I mean that I need a day to do what I want to do instead of what I have or need to do.

And what would a day like that look like? I really don’t even know, lol. Maybe reading, painting, spending a day in the park or near water, in nature, away from this desk, I know that for sure.

I need a day to refuel, to reenergize my soul.

You see, last week was stressful; especially the end of it, and I haven’t taken time to tend to myself. Yes, I’ve exercised, but I still feel it. Yes, I’ve talked to God and read my Bible, but I still feel it.

What is “it”? A feeling of weight, stress, confusion, doubt and frustration.

So what am I going to do about “it”?

I’m going to DO IT ANYWAY.

I am going to complete my assignments outside of my feelings. I’m going to push myself, to choose to do what I need to do because I can and will do it, with God’s help.

“I can (AND WILL) do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. – Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

Anything is possible when we put our minds, hearts, souls and actions towards it.

We’re not always going to feel like doing what we need to do, or even what will get us ready to do what we love to do, but doing it anyway strengthens, teaches and prepares us like nothing else can.

I will not give up or give in to my feelings. I control my feelings, they do not control me!

After I do what I need to do, I’m going to take care of myself by taking a walk in the park, spending time in nature, coloring or whatever I feel will feed my soul.

I need this time to myself, and when I don’t get it, over time it feels like I’ve run into a brick wall.

But I’m learning that I have the power, strength and ability to run through this wall.

Don’t let your feelings run you off the road to your purpose. Don’t let them take you in a direction you never intended to take. You can do this, we can do this! Let’s choose to live the life we want instead of allowing our feelings to determine our destination.

Let’s choose FAITH OVER FEELINGS! Say, “I choose faith over my feelings!” Faith that you can do what you put your mind and actions towards. Faith that God is with you every step of the way!

And just like that, I wrote an entire blog post in less than an hour. If I did it, so can you!

How have you allowed your feelings to run things? What do you do to encourage yourself to do the things you need to do when you don’t feel like doing them?

Be loved. Love you. Be love.
